FREE PATTERN: Baby Leggings Size 56 - 68 / 0 - 5 months
These baby leggings are super soft and cozy! The leggings are designed for jersey fabrics. Please make sure that your fabrics have ~ 5% elastane content as not all jerseys are the same. You may also use some super-soft and stretchy French Terry (thinner than normal sweatshirt fabric). In this case, the leggings will be a bit more fitted.
The European sizes are based on the child’s height measured in centimeters. In the ebooks, the sizes are indicated in both ways, centimeters, and inches of course. Also, the fabric requirement is listed in centimeters and yards. The size 56 is for newborns (for newborns that are not taller than 56 cm / 22 inches). Size 62 is for 0 - 2 months old babies and size 68 is for 2 - 5 months old babies (which are not taller than 68 cm / 27 inches).

PDF PATTERN FOR DIN A4 PRINT AND INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure to print at „Actual Size“. Do not scale! Check the test square to make sure that the pattern is printing at the correct size. The edges and markings on each page help assemble the pattern in the right way. Match up 1 with 1, 2 with 2, etc.
DownloadAbout the Pattern
Lybstes sizes are always "up to - sizes" according to the child‘s height. A size 92 is right for a child up to a height of 92 cm (36 1/4 in). From 93 cm (36 1/2 in) onwards you should choose size 98. The baby leggings as you get them in this free book are a bit wider at the legs (56 - 92). Size down in width if you want really close-fitting leggings (stay true to height for the length of the leggings).
The baby leggings include room for diapers. Size 92 is included in both pattern sets. Choose the baby leggings with waistband if your kid still needs diapers or the kid leggings if your kid is potty-trained already. The kid leggings (92 - 122) are cozy, yet hug the child‘s legs. If your kid has stronger legs, you might want to size up in width while staying true to height in length.
Comfy Leggings
in larger sizes
You can find the Basic Leggings pattern up to size 122 in the shop. The PDF pattern includes two separate patterns for babies and older children. The baby leggings have a wide waistband and are soft and cozy. The leggings for older kids are more fitted and trendy. They look really pretty when combined with our bubble dress „Milla“, the hi-lo shirt „Malika“ or long hoodies!
Step-by-Step instructions
Step 1: Cut your pieces. Make sure to cut two mirror images of your leggings legs. The ribbing is cut on fold.
Step 2: Fold the ribbing right sides together. Pin and sew the two short ends together. Mark the middle front (pink arrows) with small snips. Fold the waistband wrong sides together over itself.
Step 3: Lay the two legs rights sides together. Pin and sew the front and back crotch seams.
Step 4: Refold the leggings so that the front and back crotch seams are matched. Pin.
Step 5: Sew the inseam. Check that the crotch seams meet perfectly.
Step 6: Slide the waistband into the leggings right sides together. All raw edges (waistband and leggings) should be aligned.
Match up your waistband seam with the back seam on the leggings and the front notch on the waistband with the front seam on the leggings.
Step 7: Pin and sew around the waistline of the leggings.
Step 8: Fold the bottom edge over 2 cm (1 3/4 in) to the wrong side and press. Topstitch on the light side using a zigzag stitch or a twin needle.
Step 9: A zigzag or 3-step zigzag stitch is totally fine. Both stitches stretch nicely.
The baby leggings are ready! It's really super quick to sew, isn't it?
That's what you make out of the pattern!
I wish you lots of fun sewing, trying on, and or giving away!
